Hey. .. as far as the bridal shower i sent an email a few weeks back saying it will be in the Brownstone in Paterson NJ. Paterson is closer to the GWB (about 30 mins from NY) and about 45 mins from points in NJ so i figured it was a great location. its 17 dollars per person..(+tax and gratuities) it accomodates 36 ppl. Ednin and Ariso already formulated the list of folks for this.. now I need you girls to contribute 75 dollars each for this and I'll be covering the rest. Last time we agreed June 27th so thats the day i booked.

Sounds great! It's a very nice place. Please let me know if you need me to help you look for favors, center pieces, invites, etc.

Again, I have a lot of ideas because I am in another wedding in July and have met several times with the other bridesmaids. I know AC Moore had a bridal blowout sale last week. Also A Christmas Tree store, by Paramus Mall, has a lot of really cheap and nice favors and stuff.

that sounds cool... so it's a couple's bridal shower? and it's on a Friday?

I like being able to play the silly cool games. When are we going to get to do those? I guess we can play those before the bachelorette outing. The "How well do you know the groom?" game, or the you can't say certain words through out the night game, banana eating contest... etc. (-: Those are fun!

Alrighty so.. again viv and I met yesterday and came up with a few themes for the bridal shower.. please share your ideas for themes..

What we came up with was "Brizas Caribenas" because of DR obvious... but also because it gives us flexibility... were thinking brining the beach elements in nice glass bowls with water and a tropical flower floating on top (economical, elegant, beachy) also we can incorporate bamboo things.. tropical fruits.. and the likes.

MY BAD on the date. Its JULY 27th (Sunday) and we're aiming for a Sunday Brunch (brunches are a lil less expensive that lunches) So 11am to maybe 2pm.

we need more ideas or to build on the tropical theme idea for the shower AND games and stuff... (It's girls only) the place fits 36 ppl at max. I'm going to attempt to visit the place by the end of the week and post up comments. If the place doesnt deem fit, we'll use my parents house. Stay tuned.. but July 27th will be the date.

I was looking online... For example, if you're trying to capture the spirit of the islands, such as a wedding in Hawaii or Jamaica, the favors and decorations are easy. Flower leis, seashell necklaces, and seashell candles can all be used.

Be sure to request that your guests dress accordingly, since participation is everything. The atmosphere is likely to be sunny, with fun music and barefoot dancing. The gifts will be lighter too, revolving around vacation. Gift suggestions include:
Sunglasses
Camera
Beach Towels
Flip-flops
Canvas Beach Chairs
Beach Umbrella

You may choose to create an underwater atmosphere, using draped aqua tulle with white lights and a sea-life centerpiece. To make the centerpiece:
Use a shallow glass bowl and some colorful dried sprays of plants.
Affix the main spray to the bottom of the bowl at the 12 o'clock position with a florist's frog.
If desired, use two smaller accent sprays at three and 9 o'clock.
Cover the frogs with sand and tumbled sea glass, and in the middle of the bowl place a starfish.

We can do tropical, beachy frozen drinks?

Are we encouraging lengere? or actual gifts? I think in a house it might be more fun, cause we do more of the games and things.

I was looking online and sticking with the DR theme I was thinking we could also do, in addition to the tropical flowers bamboos (which could be the favors) we could do like nice big vases filled with different fruits and that also adds to like the decor and stuff. Like a big vase filled with mangos and another filled with lemons/limes maybe limonsillos. Also, I was thinking we could do like a sign, that says like San Pedro de Macoris and an arrow going one way and San Franciso like going the other way, sort of to like represent Ed and Ariso.

I think we could get real creative with it and it could still be economical. I also like the frozen drinks idea and the games.

ladies, ladies, ladies.. LOVING IT!

So... i just called Ariso since we are pretty much all in agreeing that in a house it would be easier.. so what better house then THEIR house lol.

Lets aim for the backyard so think outdorsy and in the event of rain we'll just wheel it in :).

This will cut some of the cost down and will def let us play with more of the ideas

~YoSi (as far as invitations.. ednin had some invitations that she was going to use for the wedding but didnt so she gave me those.. so dont worry about that)

Hey All;

So these are my thoughts in the theme and trying to incorporate what you guys have suggested (y conociendo a mi hermanita...lol)

These fans as the favors with their names on it or lyrics of a song that fit (think juan luis guerra ish): http://www.beau-coup.com/paper_fans.htm

I like the idea of the sign (san francisco, san pedro) so thats a project we can work on...

the bowl w/water and the(hibiscus)floating in the middle (it has sentimental value to ed) http://www.stickergiant.com/Merchant2/imgs/450/aad565_450.jpeg.

Then in addition we can have white tealights and shells on the tables (for a classy clean look) so basically everything will be ivory/cream except the flower in the middle of the table and the food table with the tropical fruits and the drinks... definetly a dominican cake or cup cakes for a more contemporary look.. and dulces dominicanos as desert..

the ivory/cream back drop will make everything else stand out and it will be representative of the sand..

Also... Im going to work on a book for her with messages from my family members that arent able to make it.. hopefully for the bridal shower but if not then presented to her for the wedding.. and that will also be a tropical theme (DR).

What do you guys think...

So.. I did a price check for the bridal shower:

Favors 57
Chairs 60
Serving Table 7
Round Tables 35
Bought Food 300
Table Cover 17.95
Bridal Shower Banner 3.99
Cake 50
Plates 14.97
Desert Plates 3.98
Cups 7.47
Miscellaneous 100 (this would include projects such as the sign and any other little thing we may miss)
4Set Star Tea Lights 10
Utensils 9.87
Candle Bowl 21.45

Total: 698.68
Total per person: 99.81 ~ 100 bucks

So we have 100 dollars for miscelaneous fees, and we have my mom as a 8th person to contribute.. so that should encompass any items we may need for games and such.

Since Ed and Ariso are moving we may either be doing it at their old place OR at my parents back yard. They have a canopy so we would be covered in the event of rain...

The prices for the rentals are all from my job's recreation department and the other items are from party city.. perhaps we can find it cheaper but i rather over budget than under budget.

I would need to purchase all of this in the month of June. What would be the best way of collecting the money.

IF ANYONE finds anything cheaper please let me know.. for the most part i'm looking for basic vanilla colored items (plates/cups/utensils), I dont want it to look crazy.. we can bring out the beachy theme with the tealight candles (starfish), with the flower floating in the bowls... with tropical fruit we'll put in the serving table.. and maybe we can buy some bright fabric to make it all pop. Then of course the drinks and such will all make it stand out. Keep blogging!
